Rio Hondo College has an aggressive Fire Technology program that out of the 107 Community Colleges in the State of California, ranks 5th in size.
Rio Hondo currently is offering three fire academies per calendar year, two EMT-I classes per year, A Type-II Wildland Hand crew (hired by the Angeles National Forest), several on campus classes, classes online and our FEET (Firefighter Entrance Examination Testing) program. We are also beginning construction on our 3-Acre training complex in Santa Fe Springs.
Among the many classes we offer, the Fire Technology program offers certification through the "California State Fire Marshal's" office in Fire Officer, Chief Officer and specialty courses. We also train and certify public safety personnel in AED certification training as well as in CPR and First Aid. Rio Hondo College also has a Fire Crew, formally known as "Crew 77" and deploys for 14-day rotations. Last year, our crew went to 17 different fires in California, Nevada and near the California/Oregon border.
We are proud to be part of your education and training in the Fire Service and enjoy helping you learn and grow through training opportunities.
